Happy Dayz - Not
Here's the deal:
I want my ten years.
Out of the total of my 30 friends,
18 are only on LJ;
4 are only on IJ;
8 are on both.
That is a bunch of people I want to hear from in the future, too. I'm not happy with SUP's attitude - because yes, the opinion of the director of SUP's blog division is SUP's opinion on LJ - and the situation but I will grit my teeth and stay.

I was thinking about these on the way home and got this mental image of... well, you need to read to see how it ends. ;) It's somewhat short but the ending is just like I wanted it, so I thought it best to leave it like that. The text is not my usual style, but it felt right. (I specified the language 'cos I have a feeling I'll be writing some of these in English and some in Finnish.) F-locked it (for my general flist) just in case. Uhm. I hope you like this. :3

I can't say I'm 100% sure about the characterisation, either - it's been a while - so constructive criticism on that aspect would be very welcome.

I'm not that happy with them right now. Sure, I'm as glad to see 6A go as anyone - but will SUP really do us any good? Forgive me, but I'm not too sure about that after browsing around the comments to that post and the two new communities.
For now I'm opting for the watch&wait approach. I just hope they won't do anything stupid.

bitchy - Music:Documentary film on Jokela
In Finnish: Iltalehti, Helsingin Sanomat
In English: msnbc, Helsingin Sanomat: International Edition
In short, an 18-year-old upper secondary school student shot eight people at a school in Jokela, one of whom was the school headmistress, and then shot himself in the head, ending up in the hospital in critical condition. Thirteen people, including the shooter, were injured. Most of the students got their injuries while escaping through the classroom windows; fortunately, only one of them was shot at. The shooter had published his plans through a video on YouTube, his blog and some forums on the Internet.
I won't even pretend to understand this. Why? was the first thought in my mind when I heard about this while sitting in the bus on my way home. A psychologist in the TV is saying that young men in Finnish are not well, and that's a serious understatement if you ask me. I'm not saying that it's absolutely not possible he was just looking for attention, but what if he really believed in what he said in his manifesto?
That worries me a whole lot more than 'young men being unwell'.
My condolences to all those who lost friends and/or family today.

When I checked my flist this morning I was quite shocked. I found that LJ had been suspending accounts without a warning. Why? Because, apparently, Warriors for Innocence have pressured them to suspense accounts with questionable interests or "hot words", such as incest, listed in their interests.
innocence_jihad is a community against what is happening. They suggested adding 'solidarity_against_internet_witch_hunts' as your interest if you are against what LJ is doing, but lookey lookey, it's not clickable while 'solidagity_aainst_internep_widkfh_hslts' , the new slogan, is.
beautifuldorian linked this Livejournal Backup and Search Tool. If you think your journal is in danger, use it. She also suggested adding 'censorship is destroying me' as an interest.
I've got only these three and 'freedom of speech' listed as my interests, and I joined the community to keep up with the news. In my opinion, what LJ is doing is unacceptable.
But remember, as
taiki posted in
innocence_jihad:
"People! You all need to remember this IS within LJ's right to do this.
I don't support it, but they're within their right to do this.
This community is pretty much the correct response to it. Some will say it's whining, bitching and complaining, but I prefer protest! Whatever you do, don't renew your paid account until LJ does something about it, in the very least, and if you're on sponsored levels, take yourself down to free."
If you search these links from yohjideranged's entry, you will find that LJ has the right - actually, it's in their TOS - to suspend accounts or communities that promote incest or paedophilia. How to differentiate a paedophilia community from an RPG community, that is another matter.
( Links )
I don't know where this is going, but I'll be following the news. I hope that all the wrongly suspended accounts will be unsuspended when this is over.

Dear Dr. Laura:
Thank you for doing so much to educate people regarding God’s Law. I have learned a great deal from your show, and I try to share that knowledge with as many people as I can. When someone tries to defend the homosexual lifestyle, for example, I simply remind them that Leviticus 18:22 clearly states it to be an abomination.
I do need some advice from you, however, regarding some other specific Biblical laws and how to follow them.
1. When I burn a bull on the altar as a sacrifice, I know it creates a pleasing odour for the Lord (Lev. 1:9). The problem is my neighbors. They claim the odour is not pleasing to them. Should I smite them?
2. I would like to sell my daughter into slavery, as sanctioned in Exodus 21:7. In this day and age, what do you think would be a fair price for her?
3. I know that I am allowed no contact with a woman while she is in her period of menstrual uncleanness (Lev.15:19-24). The problem is, how do I tell? I have tried asking, but most women take offense.
4. Lev. 25:44 states that I may indeed possess slaves, both male and female, provided they are purchased from neighboring nations. A friend of mine claims that this applies to Mexicans, but not Canadians. Can you clarify? Why can’t I own Canadians?
5. I have a neighbor who insists on working on the Sabbath. Exodus 35:2 clearly states he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated to kill him myself?
6. A friend of mine feels that even though eating shellfish is an abomination (Lev. 11:10), it is a lesser abomination than homosexuality. I don’t agree. Can you settle this?
7. Lev. 21:20 states that I may not approach the altar of God if I have a defect in my sight. I have to admit that I wear reading glasses. Does my vision have to be 20/20, or is there some wiggle room here?
8. Most of my male friends get their hair trimmed, including the hair around their temples, even though this is expressly forbidden by Lev.19:27. How should they die?
9. I know from Lev. 11:6-8 that touching the skin of a dead pig makes me unclean, but may I still play football if I wear gloves?
10. My uncle has a farm. He violates Lev. 19:19 by planting two different crops in the same field, as does his wife by wearing garments made of two different kinds of thread (cotton/polyester blend). He also tends to curse and blaspheme a lot. Is it really necessary that we go to all the trouble of getting the whole town together to stone them? (Lev.24:10-16) Couldn’t we just burn them to death at a private family affair like we do with people who sleep with their in-laws? (Lev. 20:14)
I know you have studied these things extensively, so I am confident you can help. Thank you again for reminding us that God’s word is eternal and unchanging.
